Author

In the occasionally hot and sunny summer of 2008 I paced the garden, drank an impressive amount of tea and did quite a bit of writing.

The result was a spoof of The Dangerous Book for Boys aimed at the 60+, snappily titled The Deranged Book for Old-Timers (Summersdale). It emerged, blinking and confused, in September 2008. Once described by a woman in Droitwich as “so funny I ate my pyjamas”, it touches on important things the greys need to know including:

  • How to twitch curtains properly
  • Classic cocktails
  • Zimmerframe Kama Sutra
  • How to strike up conversations with complete strangers
  • Pimping your mobility scooter

You can read a few excerpts on the Daily Mail website.

What the papers say:

The Western Morning News, 17th January 2009:

pokes gentle fun at growing old and comes up with a raft of amusing ideas for keeping busy.

Portsmouth News, September 2008:

a witty and very funny book about growing old disgracefully.

Kent County Magazine, October 2008:

the ultimate guide to growing old disgracefully – a wonderful resource for the adventurous senior citizen.

The book is available from all good and some slightly suspect bookshops such as Waterstones and Borders and online at:
